Genworth Annual Golf Day and Fundraiser

On Thursday 19 September 2013, Genworth held its Annual Golf Day at Manly Golf Course.
Trish Wetton, CEO joined Lyndsey Mckee from United Way Australia at the Genworth Charity Hole and spoke to Genworth employees and their customers about Forsight’s services for adults who are deafblind with additional disabilities living in community group homes located in Sydney and the Nepean area.

Genworth very generously matched $ for $ donated on the day. On behalf of our deafblind adults I conveyed to Genworth CEO Ellie Comerford and organisers Dorothy Lee, Kim Matthews Stuart and Zoe Adams Lau their sincere thanks.

Special Indoor WheelChairs

Royal Freemason’s Benevolent Institute has donated 5 plastic wheelchairs for the Hands-On Cooking project. If the budding Cooks happen to get covered in flour it won't matter - it will be fun with lots of laughter.
These new wheelchairs will signal to our deafblind adults that cooking classes are about to commence! Delicious flavours, aromas and textures will all be experienced, including the opportunity to eat the end result for afternoon tea or dinner.

Royal Freemasons' Donation

I am pleased to let you know that a donation has been received from the Royal Freemasons' Benevolent Institution for three projects that I submitted applications for recently.

The projects include:
1.
One customised wheelchair for Natalie Sheedy at Illawarra group home.
2.
Five plastic wheelchairs for recreational indoor and outdoor use for Natalie Shedy, Coral Wilson, Nolan Frazer, Steven Bartman and Amanda Swanson.
3.
Specialised Exercise Equipment to set up a Mobile Gym to enable residents to trial items of equipent for suitablity and then keep them for an agreed length of time before trying out something else.

Our thanks go out to the Royal Freemasons' Benevolent Institution for their generous donation.
Trish Wetton.

Funding Approval for Jacaranda

We have exciting news about the approval of funding for our main bathroom upgrade at Jacaranda House.

We set up a meeting with the builder and Miriana at Jacaranda to discuss the commencement of this latest project including the installation of a walk in bath.

The bath company is bringing their mobile showroom to Forsight on Tuesday to demonstrate the walk in bath.  I can’t believe how fortunate Forsight is to be able create sustainable accommodation for our deafblind adults with ongoing donations from Genworth Financial, our Corporate partners, through the support of United Way Australia.

Forsight Takes Delivery of a Donated Bus

The residents living at Amber group home are the proud owners of a new KIA Carnival Club purchased from our friends at Thompson KIA in North Parramatta. This vehicle was funded by generous donations received from, The Rotary Club of Carlingford, The Inner Wheel Club of Beecroft, Dr John and Helen York and Genworth Financial through their annual Golf Day proceeds.

Graham, Nerida, Libby and Kathy all love their KIA Carnival. It is very spacious and comfortable so they are very proud. Staff members, Pamela and Rebecca are also thrilled with the donated bus that has replaced their 11 year old bus.
