Individualised Funding Seminar in Sydney

Forsight Board members and senior management attended the NDS ‘Leading the Way’ Seminar at the Sydney Hilton on Sunday 12th February 2012. Mike Bailey, Hilton McKenna, Andrew McRobert, Toni Alexander and John Allsopp attended along with Trish Wetton and Miriana Gazivoda.

Everyone enjoyed the full day of interesting speakers talking about topics, including person-centred planning and individualised funding. By July 2014 a new funding arrangement will be put in place by NSW Ageing, Disability and Home Care that will radically change the way disability programs are funded in the future.

There will be challenges along the way and Forsight Board and management are making sure they are up there with the best.

Welcome to Forsight

Forsight welcomed two new directors to the Board on Wednesday 22nd February 2012. Chairman Mike Bailey paid tribute to Toni Alexander and John Allsopp for their volunteering and their commitment to serve on the Forsight board.

Toni and John individually bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the board table. All the adults who are deaf/blind with additional disabilities will benefit from the energy and goodwill that having a full complement of board members brings.

Both kitchens will be fully wheelchair accessible to allow the adults who are deafblind with additional disabilities to participate in the Forsight Sensory Hands-on Cooking Program. Beecroft Inner Wheel Club

The Beecroft Inner Wheel Club members knitted warm woollen scarves for 32 residents to keep out the winter cold whilst giving each resident a tactile furry/fluffy scarf. Residents, Amanda, Andrew and Neil are pictured enjoying the experience. Everyone was able to choose using touch and smell and it was a wonderful sight to see everyone rugged up ready for Winter. There were giggles when the scarves tickled a few chins!

Our heartfelt thanks go to the Inner Wheel members from everyone at Forsight for the fine scarves that are going to be enjoyed by all for many winters to come.
